Syndicated Shows Providing Playlists

One of NPR Digital Services‘ roles in SoundExchange reporting for stations covered by the CPB-SX agreement is to collect playlist data from the producers of syndicated programming, so they can be included in stations’ quarterly SoundExchange reports. Stations then don’t need to collect and report these data themselves; instead they just need to tell PI what syndicated shows they streamed and when during each calendar quarter.

To let us know what shows you currently stream, you must fill out a schedule grid for each of your content streams in either Composer Basic or Composer Pro. To do so go to Create/Edit Program Guide using the global What do you want to do? drop down navigation and fill in or update the guide for your chosen two week reporting period each calendar quarter.

If your station offers more than one content stream, access the Create/Edit Program Guide screen for your other streams by using the My Stations drop down in the upper right hand corner, and then clicking on Create/Edit Program Guide.

If you are a syndicated show producer and are not currently providing playlist files to us, please read this page on the basics of reporting and then email Phil Johnson with the following information:

  • Show Name
  • Show Contacts – People responsible for data submission to PI. For each, please provide: name, title, phone number, email address
  • Show URL
  • Playlist Management Tool (if any) – e.g., spreadsheet, Music Master, etc.

We will then get back to you with the FTP account to use to submit data files to us.
